HYPSTAIR at ERK 2014

From 22th till 24th September the International Electrotechnical and Computer Science Conference (ERK 2014) was held in Portoroz (Slovenia). The conference was organized by the IEEE Slovenia Section together with Faculty of Electrical Engineering University of Ljubljana and other Slovenian professional societies. The Conference was bilingual, with presentations in English and Slovenian addressing several topics in area of electronics, robotics, power engineering, computer science…etc.

Mr. Tomažič presented work carried out in HYPSTAIR project in developing technology enabling hybrid powered flight. The HYPSTAIR is the first certifiable hybrid propulsion system for use in General Aviation. The contribution outlines the system architecture and design features, as well as the proposed human machine interface with emphasis on producing a new type of an aviation propulsions system, which merges the benefits of electric flight with practicality of conventional powertrains, producing an unprecedented combination of performance, efficiency, safety and ease of use of an aviation powertrain.
